Which model is the BougeRV 12v cooler and is this in a back of a standard 72 inch cabin configuration? The reason I ask is we have a Diamond in the rough on order and I need to buy a 12v cooler and worrired about the size. Looks like you have room to spare here which is great. Would you recommend this model of cooler and is the size adequate? Thanks in advance Doug
We bought on Amazon the 30 quart BougheRV 12V refrigerator/freezer. We're heading to Alaska from Ottawa this summer and didn't want to be bothered with finding ice all the time. You can view the interior dimensions online to see if suitable. For just the 2 of us, we like it so far. Camped once with it in May. I bought a Costco Group31 Marine battery (replaced the Group 24 in the box) and now get 3 days plus fan use from this. That's plenty and then the 6 hr drives will charge the battery.
In early May there was a really good sale for the BougeRV 30 qt for $300+tax. Yes- we have a standard configuration 72inch cabin Diamond in the Rough as well. At the back, it came with a closed box mounted to the slider so cooler would go beside on t he slideout. I removed the box and cut the slider base
to just fit the Bouge RV. (I took off all the edging and reassembled after the cuts. PS - Don't forget to allow for the plug sticking out in a width calculation!). I bought the 12" locking sliders from Amazon (Shuhang Heavy Duty). Had to centre to ensure it pulls out far enough so lid doesnt hit trailer shelf. 14" would probably work as well.
We wanted shelving beside for plastic storage bins. Here's a pic. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info and nice modifications. Sorry just getting bak to you now, busying morning.
I will check out Amazon for the cooler and the sliders. I am taking mine with only the shelf in the back so I will add trhe slider for the cooler and the Coleman stove. It looks like you would have room for the 14 inch sliders if need be.
We ordered ours with the 2 batteries without the converter upfront for this reason. We also bought a Bluetti EB7S power station to bring along to charge our phones, laptops etc. So hopefuly we will be alright power wise. I don't understand enough about the group 24 vs group 31 so we're going with what Steve usually installs.
Which type of fan are you running? We have ordered the interior fan but might need more on hot nights
Do you use sway bars for towing?
Sorry for all the questions, we are new to this and we are picking up the trailer from Steve in August in N.B
Hi Doug, Happy to tell you what I've done. Others may know better.
We did a trip to New Brunswick from Ontario last September. I saw no reason for sway bars. May only need if trailer gets "tongue light" because of too much weight in the back. But we took a bike rack and a bike and I had no sway issues - even on 4 lane highway.
For fans, I installed a Caframo Maestro which is speed adjustable . Put it at out feet on the ceiling. Our sailing friend says Caframo are the best fans. I just bought a 3way 12V receptacle splitter on Amazon and plugged that into 12V inside trailer and wired the Caframo fan to a 12V jack (also from Amazon). The lowest speed on this is great for the small space. Highest speed is too much. The interior fan you ordered should be fine. Also, we did some October camping in 2022 at Bon Echo Provincial Park. Some nights down <3degC. Internal condensation was an issue so I just had a MaxAir fan installed to allow us to exhaust air outside while we sleep. Condensation not really an issue on warm nights.
Your 2 batteries will be great and you'll be happy with that. I chose to get the extra AmpHours (Ah) with one larger battery (but less weight than 2 batteries).
Mine broke as well. Most Drawer slides can't handle the flexing when mounted horizontally. I went a different route and bought a pair of locking drawer slides from Amazon and mounted them vertically. Very sturdy. About $65. Also in process of adding shelving beside for bin storage.

the should be fine just a different style. Screw mounting hole are probably the only difference
